Finishing the First Date
We both drove to our date, so when dinner was over we were left in the parking lot together. She’d used eHarmony once before, and I told her I had too. We stood by our cars and she touched her hair.
“So, it was nice meeting you.”
“Definitely. Nice meeting you.”
We started to hug. Awkwardly. I leaned in and pressed her back.
“Bye.”
“Good night.”
We started toward our cars. Then I turned around. She had too.
“Hi. I just wanted to say I had a nice time.”
“You did?”
“Did you?”
“Of course.” I walked closer. “It’s been a while.”
“For me too. Being new and all.”
“Of course.”
Then, before I knew it, we started to kiss. Quickly and softly.
“I should go,” she said.
“Why?”
“I broke my rule.”
“What rule?”
“No kiss on the first date?”
“Sorry.”
“I’m not.”
We both got in our cars and I followed her out the lot.
