A Second Date- You Saw it Coming, Didn’t You?
OK, so I swear I haven’t entered swoon land. But when Spring takes this long to arrive, doesn’t it make sense to add a little Spring to your life when nature doesn’t give it to you? Sure, my date with the graphic designer was awkward. But this week I went on another.
This time we went to a gallery part he’d been invited to. Neither of us knew anyone, so we watched the waitress as she spiraled around us, holding a piece of cheese. He shrugged.
“Are you having fun?”
“Sure.”
“Let’s go.”
He wasn’t nervous. We went down the street to a Chinese place that was buried inside an alleyway. We got our cartons of MSG and sat in the overlit corner of the room. At one point I noticed that we’d been fencing with our chopsticks.
“They’ll get tangled,” I said.
“They’re chopsticks.” He laughed. “They can’t get tangled.”
We realized it was already midnight. I had an early morning the next day, and since he lives in Brooklyn, we took different subways.
But the chopsticks are in my purse.
