I like soft and fuzzy animals and I get my mom great stuff for Mother’s Day. Really! But I’m struggling with how to let Pete down easy after our date at Momofuku. I know how to flirt online. But I don’t know how to reject.

Can you just tell someone you don’t want to see them anymore? Do you do a message to do it? Or does True have something that’s like the opposite of a wink. A scowl? A snarl? I just wish that I could give it to him and not hurt is feelings.

Whatever it is, I don’t want to hear him laugh about it. I’ve gotten so sick of hearing that laugh. I almost want to hear it again, just so that I can mock it. It sounds the same each time, like the Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz Witch.

Sigh.

Where did I put my Ruby slippers for this one?

That my True date with Pete, the crazy laugher, went wonderfully. And as far as the food goes, it did. It was some of the best stuff I’ve ever had. The chef is Korean, but from Maryland, I think, so he makes the most amazingly unique food that I’ve ever had. So good. But not everything about dinner was great. For one, Pete was there.

Has he laughed that way all his life? Why has no one told him? It sounded like a thousand brakes squealing each time I said anything remotely funny (and I mean remotely- I wasn’t in a humorous mood!). But the food was so good. I should take an OKCupid test- are you dating a man for the food. The answer is yes!

One thing was kind of cool. He likes some of the same books I do. But other than that, the food was the highlight. I’m still enjoying that- and still cranking music on my iPod to try and drown out that laugh!

I have another date with Pete. And yes, yesterday I said that I’d do anything to avoid a second date. But since I turned off my computer last night, I never wrote him back. That meant that today he could write the following message:

Hey- I got reservations at Momfuku. http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/momofuku-ssam-bar/. Have you heard of it?

Have I heard of it?!?!? It’s only my favorite new restaurant in the city. And so  I decided I couldn’t turn down my maniacally laughing True buddy down. I have another date tonight. We’ll see if I can bear him!
