Am continuing to write to my industrial designer prospect. She’s got an interesting personality, at least in her messages. You feel like there’s words between the lines. Things you’re missing. But she’s also got enough on the surface. Yesterday, she sent me another message…Jack-I was thinking- are our industries that dissimilar? Both of us shape the way people interact with spaces, the way we puncture the boundaries between animate and inanimate, the ephemeral and permanent, meeting and mixing at some indefinable point. I like mixing it up.

That was heavy enough. She sounds French. And I’m guessing our first date won’t be for mini-golf.

That’s definitely something specific about online dating- this game moves fast. You meet a person at work, it can take weeks or years to get to the deep stuff. I’ll admit, sometimes people are willing to kick it up a notch to impress. I want to meet her soon- can’t think this much before I flirt. It just seems wrong.

Of course, I’m blogging this from the office- looking out at some mix of mist and smoke. I’ll stay here until dinner then have sushi down the street. Next time, I want to do it with a companion.
